Druillet reappropriates here Flaubert's novel, first edited through the magazine "Métal Hurlant" then in "Pilote". He transposes the Punic Wars into the Star's World, and gives Mathô the identity of his favorite character, Lone Sloane, who has come to lose himself in the war for the love of a woman. The both sober and luxuriant verb of Flaubert is transcended by the incredible pages of Druillet, who has reached the maturity of his talent, who explodes the frames and frees himself from the conventions of comics.
