Biography
Juanjo Guarnido was born in Granada, Spain, in 1967. He spent his childhood drawing in the village of Salobreña, along the Mediterranean. Later his family moved to Granada, where he studied Fine Arts, where he graduated. He participated in the preparation of several fanzines in Granada. During these years he published numerous illustrations in Comics Forum - Planeta de Agostini for the Spanish edition of Marvel, which allows it to reach an audience large enough Spanish. Then he wetted Cartoon and moved to Madrid where, for three years, he worked for several TV series. The first day in the studio, he met Juan Diaz Canales, who became his scriptwriter on Blacksad. In 1993 he moved to Paris to join the Walt Disney Studios of Montreuil, where he worked as a layout-man and now as host. Adept has always been of European comics, he began patiently what will be the long production of his debut album. "Somewhere between the shadows" is his first album and it is published by Dargaud (November 2000). In 2004, Blacksad gets the prize for best design at the Angoulême Festival.
